Samsung Electronics' newest Galaxy Buds3 earphones have come under fire over quality control issues despite an ambitious AI makeover and design overhaul.

삼성전자의 최신 갤럭시 버즈3 이어폰이 야심 찬 AI 혁신과 디자인 변화에도 불구하고 품질 관리 문제로 비난 받고 있다.

The electronics giant posted an apology on its official Korean retail websites on Friday after multiple users reported quality issues, including different lengths of the earpieces, different brightness of the LED lights installed on the devices and poor assembly.

많은 사용자들이 이어폰 본체 길이 차이, LED 조명 밝기 차이, 조립 불량 등 품질 문제를 제기하자 삼성전자는 지난 금요일(7월 19일) 한국 공식 판매 사이트에 사과문을 게시했다.


"We deeply apologize for the quality issues found in some products of the Galaxy Buds3 series sold during the presale period," the company said in the statement.

삼성전자는 사과문에서 “사전 판매 기간 팔린 일부 제품에서 품질 문제가 제기된 데 대해 깊이 사과한다”고 밝혔다.

"You can exchange or get a refund at a nearby service center should you feel any inconvenience with the purchased products. Until the official launch date of July 24 in Korea, we will do our best to thoroughly monitor the entire process so that no similar issues emerge."

삼성전자는 “구매 제품에 불편함을 느끼는 경우 가까운 서비스 센터를 방문해 교환, 환불 등을 받을 수 있다”며 “24일 국내 공식 출시 이전까지는 모든 과정을 꼼꼼히 점검해 유사한 일이 다시 일어나지 않도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 했다.

The Galaxy Buds3 series unveiled during the Paris Unpacked event on July 10 is a reinvented product, going through a major design overhaul from a round shape to an AirPods-esque bean sprout appearance as well as updates to AI features and sounds quality.

지난 7월 10일 파리에서 열린 언팩 행사(신제품 공개 행사)에서 처음 모습을 드러낸 갤럭시 버즈3 시리즈는 AI 기능과 음질 향상에 더해 외형이 기존 둥근 모양에서 (애플) 에어팟과 비슷한 콩나물 모양으로 바뀌는 등 대대적인 디자인 개편을 거친 새로운 제품이다.

Some consumers who received the products before the official launch during the presale period, however, have reported multiple quality control issues.

그러나 정식 출시 전 사전 판매 기간에 제품을 받은 일부 소비자는 품질 관리에 대한 여러 문제를 제기했다.

"Uneven seals of the earphones due to poor assembly," "different length and brightness of the LED lights" and "different length of each side of the pair" were some of the most frequently mentioned ones.

이중 '조립 불량으로 인한 이어폰의 불규칙한 마감', '상이한 LED 조명의 길이와 밝기', ‘고르지 못한 이어폰 길이' 등이 가장 많이 언급된 문제다.

LED lights were first installed on the Galaxy Buds3 Pro for a tech-savvy appearance and to find them easily in the dark.

Samsung Electronics had temporarily suspended shipments of Galaxy Buds3 Pros to local distribution channels in the U.S, to conduct a quality control evaluation, according to local reports.

현지 보도에 따르면 삼성전자는 품질관리 평가를 진행하기 위해 갤럭시 버즈3의 미국 유통 채널 출하를 잠정 중단한 것으로 알려졌다.

The official launch date, however, remains unchanged from July 24 in the U.S., according to a company spokesman Monday.

그러나 미국 공식 출시 일은 7월 24일로 변함이 없다고 삼성전자 관계자는 월요일(7월 22일) 밝혔다.
