Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced Monday that it has selected 14 new international master’s and doctoral students to receive its global scholarship.
The foundation held a scholarship award ceremony for the selected students on Sept. 28 at the On Dream Society building in Myeong-dong, central Seoul.
Of the 14 scholars, six are from Vietnam, three from Indonesia, two from the Philippines and one each from Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand.
Selected students will receive full tuition coverage for their master’s or Ph.D. programs, along with learning support fees, a settlement subsidy and graduation incentives.
Twice a year, the foundation selects a group of international students from eight Asean countries — Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos — to receive the scholarship.
Applicants must be admitted to a postgraduate course at one of the six universities partnered with the foundation: Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, Hanyang University, KAIST or the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. Eligible majors include business, economics, science, engineering, Korean and Korean studies.
The foundation also introduced a new scholarship this year for visiting undergraduate students from Indonesia, covering full tuition for two semesters, along with a stipend and settlement expenses.
