T-ara’s agency to sue distributors

Core Contents Media, which represents T-ara and other major acts, has brought charges against two companies that modified songs by the agency’s artists for distribution in Southeast Asia.

Gangnam Police said Wednesday that the agency had filed a complaint against the companies in December for copyright infringement.

The distributors used 16 Core Contents songs, including “Roly Poly” by T-ara and other hits by Davichi and 5dolls. The songs were either rearranged or covered by other musicians before they were distributed in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Police are currently investigating whether the companies had the rights to the songs or not.

Earlier in the week, Core Contents Media announced that T-ara members will reduce their acting commitments this year to focus on their music and on promotional efforts in Japan. “Promotional work in Japan currently makes up about 10 percent of the group’s activities, but we aim to see the number increase to 30 percent,” the agency’s representative said.
