NCSoft to release final Lineage game within the year

NCSoft will roll out its new cross-platform online game Lineage W within the year, the game company announced Thursday.

As the latest addition to NCSoft’s Lineage franchise, Lineage W will be a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) available on mobile, computer and console.

Cross-platform means that users using different devices can play together in the same field.

The game will be the fifth game in the Lineage franchise, after Lineage, Lineage 2, Lineage M and Lineage 2M.

“We prepared this project thinking that this is the last Lineage for us,” said Kim Taek-jin, chief creative officer of NCSoft. “Lineage W will be the pinnacle of the Lineage intellectual property, carrying the essence of Lineage that we’ve built up for the last 24 years.”

For Lineage W, NCSoft will present a “Global Battle Community” where users from all over the world can join in at once for the large-scale online battle. To achieve this, NCSoft will provide the latest artificial intelligence program to service and translate all languages at once and allow voice-to-text function to communicate more actively.

Preorders for the game began Thursday on Lineage W’s official website, Google’s Play Store and Apple iOS’s App Store. Customers who preorder will be given complimentary items and benefits after the game is officially released.
