Singer Jeon Somi has been selected as one of Vogue’s 12 style stars for the year 2022.
In the article, which was published Jan. 14, Jeon is described an “international superstar” who has “embraced the outré side of fashion, trying out everything from a Louis Vuitton cocktail dress with exaggerated proportions to take home the Best Performance Prize at the Golden Disc Awards last week to perform her new single.”
The magazine also cited her off-duty wardrobe as being “filled with vintage concert t-shirts and collectible sneakers.”
Other celebrities on Vogue's list of 2022 style stars are actor Ella Hunt, British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith and model Lori Harvey.
Jeon debuted on cable channel Mnet’s popular program “Produce 101” in 2016. After coming in first place on the program, she joined the girl group I.O.I the same year, which consisted of 11 female singers who were selected through the program. I.O.I disbanded in December 2017.
In 2018, she ended her contract with JYP and joined The Black Label, a smaller label under YG Entertainment.
Some of her most recent music as a solo artist includes “Dumb Dumb” (2021) and an EP titled “XOXO” (2021).
“Dumb Dumb” reached the top 10 in nine regions on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart while the music video for the single surpassed 10 million views 24 hours after its release.
