Netflix’s “Squid Game” (2021) won three awards at the 2nd annual Critics Choice Super Awards on Friday.

The dystopian hit won Best Action Series, Best Actor in an Action Series (for Lee Jung-jae) and Best Actress in an Action Series (for Hoyeon, whose real name is Jung Ho-yeon).

Established in 2020, the awards show is presented by the Critics Choice Association (CCA) and honors television and film productions.

For the Best Action Series category, “Squid Game” competed against Fox’s “9-1-1” (2018-), Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” (2018-), Starz’ “Heels” (2021-), The CW’s “Kung Fu” (2021-) and Netflix’s “Lupin” (2021-).

Lee was up against actors Mike Faist, Alexander Ludwig, Ralph Macchio, Omar Sy and William Zabka.

Hoyeon competed against Angela Bassett, Kim Joo-ryoung, Queen Latifah, Olivia Liang and Mary McCormack.

The Critics Choice Super Awards are different from the original Critics Choice Awards. At the 27th edition of the Critics Choice Awards, which was held last Sunday, Lee won Best Actor in a Drama Series and "Squid Game" won the Best Foreign Language Series award.
