Cho Yong-pil tops 2013 poll
The 63-year-old singer, who released his 19th studio album “Hello” in April, received 17.6 percent of the votes from the 4,363 Koreans surveyed between the ages of 13 and 59.
Often dubbed the “King of Singers,” Cho took the nation by storm by selling more than 200,000 copies of “Hello,” led by the catchy single “Bounce.” “Bounce” even dethroned “Gentleman,” Psy’s first big single since 2012’s “Gangnam Style.”
Psy, who was chosen as the top singer last year by the same survey, came in second. Trot singer Jang Yoon-jung ranked in third. Idol groups Exo and Girls’ Generation finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
